Biden job approval at record high in new poll

(The hill– President Joe Biden’s job approval rating has dropped to an all-time high of 41% in a new poll, largely due to growing disapproval from Democrats and Independents.

The survey, conducted by the Washington Post and ABC News, found that 53% of Americans disapprove of the way Biden handles his job as president. Six percent said they had no opinion.

The president’s 41 percent approval rating is a slight drop from September’s 44 percent, but a significant drop from June’s 50 percent. In April, just three months after taking office, 52% of Americans gave Biden positive ratings.

The November poll found that support for Biden is waning among Democrats and Independents. Eighty percent of Democrats said they approved of the president’s job, down from 94 percent in June. Sixteen percent of Democrats this month said they disapprove of Biden’s work.

As for independents, 35% said they approved of Biden’s performance, while 58% said they disapproved.

The president’s lower approval rating is potentially the result of economic hardships plaguing Americans across the country, including rising prices and rising inflation.

Biden received a 39% approval rating for his handling of the economy in the new survey, while 47% approved his handling of COVID-19.

The poll, however, illustrated good news for the president. A majority of Americans polled said they support the administration’s $ 1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package, which Biden will sign on Monday, in addition to the $ 1.75 trillion reconciliation package the Democrats are still negotiating.

Sixty-three percent said they supported the federal government “spending a trillion dollars on roads, bridges and other infrastructure,” and 58% said they were in favor of the federal government “spending about two thousand. billion dollars to fight climate change and to create or expand preschool, health care and other social programs.

The poll, conducted between November 7 and 10, interviewed 1,001 American adults by telephone. The margin of error is 3.5 percentage points.
