Dracut Career Fair seeks potential restaurant workers – Lowell Sun

DRACUT – Dracut Town Manager Ann Vandal and her husband Jim recently hosted a party at one of the town’s many restaurants. When they arrived, the restaurant was closed due to a lack of staff.

In a story that appeared recently in The Sun, Mike Lenzi said he was struggling to find help with his restaurant and catering business.

“I used to put an outside help panel outside and had six requests in one day. Now, an advertisement receives two applications in three months, ”he said at the time. Lenzi’s Catering operates on route 110 in Dracut.

His background is not unique to the city’s food service and catering businesses, and the city is meeting the need.

A job fair for these companies is the result; it will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20 at the Four Oaks Country Club.

There are 16 companies registered to participate, but a few more may register, said Dan Phelps, Dracut’s economic development project manager. Lenzi’s Catering is one of the 16 registered companies. Two farms and a butcher will also be at your disposal.

Some smaller establishments struggle to register because they do not have enough staff to keep their businesses open during career fair hours. In some cases, owners and management wait for tables to stay open.

“We get help from the Lowell Career Center, Mass Hire and the Chamber of Commerce. And the House is donating a $ 100 gift card to be raffled off, ”said Phelps.

The many positions include bar, wait, kitchen and counter staff, as well as delivery drivers and other jobs.

The establishments that have registered are Brown & Budnick’s, Coyle’s Tavern, Dunkin ‘, Farmer Dave, Frobie’s Café, Grazie, Jimmy’s Pizza & Restaurant, Heav’nly Donuts, Mama’s, Owen & Ollie, Primo Pizza, Shaw Farm, The Shoreline, Tavern at Lenzi, Tavern on the Line and The Boat.

Pre-registration is not required, but is available at makeitdracut.org/jobfair.
