DENVER (CBS4)– Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters and dozens of others gathered at the state Capitol on Tuesday to call for free and fair elections.

Peters, a Republican, faces a total of 10 counts, including three counts of attempting to influence a public official, conspiracy to commit an attempt to influence a public official, criminal impersonation, conspiracy to of committing criminal identity theft, identity theft, first-degree official misconduct, breach of duty, and disrespect of the Secretary of State.

She appeared in court last month after a warrant was issued for her arrest following a grand jury indictment following an investigation into allegations of tampering with election materials and misconduct official. Mesa County Deputy Clerk Belinda Knisley was also charged in the same investigation.
Peters was joined by supporters who say a new report shows evidence of divergence in the election.

“I am a threat, I am a threat to their democracy. We are talking about losing our republic and what we have found in these reports is very damning and they want to cover it up,” Peters said.
The group backing Peters’ claims that his case will expose the nation to the problems of voting machines.
