How Jason Momoa Saved Amber Heard’s Aquaman Job Amid Depp Lawsuit

As Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s controversial case continues into its sixth week, new witnesses have begun to testify in court. The latest addition to the already long list of witnesses is Kathryn Arnold, a former Hollywood producer who is now a consultant to the entertainment industry. She reportedly testified that lead star Jason Momoa and director James Wan fought to get Amber Heard in Aquaman 2 and wouldn’t let Warner Bros. pull her.

According to the testimony, Momoa and Wan were “committed to her while being ‘adamant she was in the movie.'” The statement comes amid rumors that Heard was dropped from the film due to her feud with the Aquaman main man Jason Momoa.
Arnold told jurors that Heard’s character, Mera, was going to have a “strong romantic arc and great action sequences” in the film before it was cut.

Although Heard was a prominent figure in the Aquaman franchise, many fans demanded to replace her in Aquaman 2 after Depp filed a domestic violence lawsuit against her. The petition received approximately 4.3 million signatures.
However, that never happened, and in preparation for the sequel’s release, she reportedly spent “months training with water and combat experts.” Arnold explained that this should have been his “departure moment was born” in his Hollywood career.

Arnold said that although Momoa was able to renegotiate his salary from $3 million to $15 million for the second film, Heard received the $2 million as his first contract. Heard’s estimated total loss due to negative press was between $45 million and $50 million.

Johnny Depp sued Heard for $50 million over an article she published in The Washington Post in 2018. The article without mentioning Depp’s name discussed domestic violence that damaged her career. She is counter-suing for $100 million.

British model Kate Moss, who also dated Depp, will testify as the actor’s witness on Wednesday about alleged rumors. Closing arguments in the case are scheduled to take place on Friday, May 27.
