On Thursday, Depp’s longtime friend spoke of a series of jealousies in the actor, while his former agent said he romanticized drugs and constantly showed up late to sets that had impact on his career. The actor’s former business manager described his increasingly difficult financial situation and his “erratic behavior” related to drugs and alcohol. Actress and ex-Depp Ellen Barkin recalls he drank all the time and once threw a bottle of wine into a room during an argument.

What do the lawyers think of the cross-examination of Amber Heard by Camille Vasquez?

Camille Vasquez, one of the lawyers representing Johnny Depp in his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard, cross-examined Ms Heard over two days on May 16 and 17.

The moment, which saw Ms Vasquez seek to undermine Ms Heard’s credibility and her claims that Mr Depp sexually assaulted and was violent towards her, was described as ‘often harsh’ by Deadlinewho noted: ‘Depp’s lawyers may have lacked an actual kitchen sink, but they tried to figuratively throw one at Heard today during further cross-examination of the actress of Aquaman in the $50 million defamation lawsuit.

“This strategy continued during the redirection, with Depp’s attorneys calling an ‘objection’ on nearly all of Bredehoft’s issues, about half of which were supported by Judge Penny Azcarte.”

The Independent spoke to two attorneys about Vasquez’s cross-examination strategy, including its potential pros and cons.

New confirmed witness in Depp’s rebuttal

Court TV reports that Jennifer Howell will testify in Johnny Depp’s rebuttal case next week in a pre-recorded deposition video.

Ms Howell was mentioned during the testimony of Amber Heard’s sister, Whitney Henriquez.

She is the founder of the Art of Elysium and Ms. Henriquez left the penthouses of the Eastern Columbia Building to accompany her in 2015 and referred to her as her ‘chosen sister’.

There are two accounts of why this was. Ms Henriquez says it was because Depp accused her of leaking stories to the press, but Ms Howell would have a different story – that it was because Ms Henriquez was fighting with Heard.

Ms Howell would also have a very different account of what has become known as the ‘staircase incident’ in the penthouses, as Ms Henriquez told her at the time.
